2-Day Workshop: Make Your Own Custom Mannequin Overview: Create a body double that reflects your real shape, not just your size. This workshop is guided every step of the way, with expert help to ensure your mannequin works for you. - Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th November 2025 9:30-16:00 Frill & Flounce, Wyke, BD12 9JD Best suited to experienced beginners and up. Day 1: Shaping the Form 9:30am – 4:30pm (with a lunch break) - Intro & overview - Full body photos taken to use as a reference—no need to keep running to the mirror - Take detailed body measurements - Start with a base form smaller than your own shape, this gives us room to build and mould - Begin pinning and shaping the mannequin to your body using padding and shaping techniques. This stage takes time and care, we’re here to guide you through it Day 2: Cover, Fit & Finishing Touches 9:30am – 4:30pm (with a lunch break) - Draft a pattern for a custom cover - Sew a toile/mock-up to test the fit - Refine the shape if needed - Sew your final cover and add hand-finished details What You’ll Need: - Mannequin (must be smaller than your body; adjustable or non-adjustable is fine) - Yourself! Wear close-fitting, comfortable clothing - Pen & notebook if you prefer taking notes—though if you're more visual, feel free to video parts of the session - Lunch, or grab something locally; there are plenty of cafés and food options nearby Can either book and pay in full online or to spread the cost, email Katie at ✉️ beforeyoustitch@icloud.com. An £80 non-refundable deposit is required to secure your place. The remaining balance is refundable up to 2 weeks before the workshop begins. After that, no refunds can be given.
